Expect to hear more about the film later today when Pixar has its presentation at D23. The studio has always been comfortable with going for the right voice over nabbing a celebrity, but since Toy Story 4 smacks of trying to pull in the biggest gross possible, I wouldn’t be surprised if they recast it. Woody and Bo Peep appeared in the beginning of Toy Story when Buzz Lightyear hadnt shown up yet, he didnt appear until the middle of the film and Jessie. Since Bo Peep will now have a significant role, it will be interesting to see if Pixar sticks with voice actress Annie Potts or goes for a bigger name. 'Uh-huh.' And with that she seized Woody, dipped him and kissed him until he couldnt breathe. And Jessie doesn't look at him that way, either. And yet, he doesn't ever look at her as a romantic rival to Bo Peep. When Toy Story 2 starts, he's still in the same relationship. Woody had climbed in halfway into the back-pack when Ken came over with a note. Is Woody dating Jessie or Bo Peep Fidelity Counts: When Toy Story ends, Woody is in a relationship with Bo Peep. Woody put Bo in a safe pocket, inside the back-pack. In the first film, Bo Peep and Woody were implied to be dating or at least interested in each other, with Bo Peep flirting after Woody 'saved' her sheep during Andys play scenario.
She kissed him on the cheek, he chuckled, and then they thanked the toys for helping them find each other. If Pixar is intent on making this a love story, hopefully they finally flesh out her character and make her an equal with Woody rather than just putting a love story through his perspective. Woody laughed with joy, as he picked up Bo peep up, twirled her around, and hugged her. She’s his girlfriend, but rarely an active character, and one who was increasingly pushed to the background in the sequels (she’s not even in Toy Story 3, and apparently in The Art of Toy Story 3 book, director Lee Unkrich says she was given away in a yard sale).
I guess this gives Pixar plenty of room to finally develop the Bo Peep character, who has always been a background love interest for Woody. The version of the story that was shown in cinemas concludes with Woody choosing to stay with Bo Peep and live without belonging to a child, saying an emotional goodbye to his friends and passing.
